Oak Tree

permanence on justruminating men's blogThough rain drowns
and winds shriek
and blinding snow
furious falls
though thunderstorms
spit lightning
cracks limbs
shreds my cloaks
diminishes me.

reckon this

I stand
I continue
I prevail

Stoic my resolve
undaunted
stars
those intemperate
fools
twinkle and die
and the
sun and moon
adulterers in
their affections.

My roots run deep
staunchly permanent
inside Mother Earth
I am enveloped
I am steadfast
my gaze
fastened
constant
immutable.

Ever to weather
Father Time’s
irrevocable
irremovable
perpetual
march
I remain
I persevere
I bide.
